Essay Writing Program

Sixth grade students at the Hopkinton Middle School, Hopkinton, MA, USA, will be given a writing assignment with the theme: “A Letter From the Past: From the plain of Marathon to the hills of Hopkinton:”

The students will write a letter as Phidippedes (legendary Greek messenger) to participants in the 2010 Boston Marathon, connecting the run from Marathon, Greece to Athens to the Boston Marathon run. This will culminate in an assembly at the school featuring selected readings from students to a delegation of modern day Greek marathoners.
